David Goode-Cross, PhD

Licensed Psychologist in Baltimore

Hello! I'm glad you found me.

I'm The Goode Doctor™ David Goode-Cross, a licensed psychologist and the founder of The Goode Practice. I work with accomplished adults, the people others rely on, who are carrying more than anyone sees. Many are professionals navigating institutions that weren't built for them. Race, culture, gender, sexuality, and class are all welcome in the room.

Who I Work With

You're the one everyone counts on, at work, at home, in your family. You handle what other people can't, and you've gotten good at it. What nobody sees is what it costs you.

Maybe the loneliness of it surprised you. Maybe you're managing something you've never said out loud to anyone. Maybe you've built a life that works and still feels like it belongs to someone else.

I help with anxiety, depression, burnout, grief, identity, and the long-running patterns underneath them.

How I Work

My work is psychodynamic and relational. In plain terms, we look at how your history shows up in your present, including in how you relate to me. Sessions are conversational but not casual. I'll ask questions, name patterns out loud, and sometimes say the thing you've been working around. You'll hear from me, and you'll be as active in this as you are in solving everyone else's problems.

Experience

Over my career I've been a professor, a college counseling center director, and a trainer of psychologists at an APA-accredited training program. I'm a past president of the Maryland Psychological Association and represent the DC Psychological Association on the American Psychological Association's Council of Representatives. I founded The Goode Practice to create a place where people can receive excellent psychological and psychiatric care and feel affirmed in who they are.

Working With Me

I'm currently accepting new clients. I see clients by video anywhere in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia, and in person at our office in Baltimore's Old Goucher neighborhood.

Sessions are $250 for 50 minutes. Many of my clients choose to pay out of pocket so that no diagnosis enters an insurance record. That matters if you hold a security clearance, carry a professional license, or want your identity and history kept out of a claims file. If your plan covers out-of-network care, I can provide a receipt to submit for reimbursement. See our Fees & FAQs page for more.

You already know how to work hard for other people. The question is whether you can do it for yourself. If this sounds familiar, a free consultation call is an easy place to start. Email me, or text or call 877-893-5480.

Take good care,
David (he/him)
